My aim in this blog is to be positive and I make no apology at all for latching on to the affirmative.
Entirely negative critiques are typically false and they rarely help us to move forward.
I will also try in this blog to express opinions that are my own.
My comments are made in a personal capacity.
I represent me, myself and I.
The image I have used for my icon is by my favourite visual artist Francisco José de Goya y Lucientes.
It depicts the conclusion of an Old Testament story in which Archangel Raphael the teacher reveals the truth to young Tobias.
I am not young, and certainly no angel, but I do believe in humanity and the value of the knowledge we create.
The image I have used for my podcast icon is a Toby jug posted on Wikicommons by Ji-Elle from the Musée Royal de l'Afrique Centrale. Thank you to the originator.
Goya is perhaps best known for his depictions of humanity at its most depraved and deranged, but his work also celebrates humanity in its joyous youth, as well as humanity striving to realise its highest ideals.
We live today in times that feel increasingly dark, uncertain and threatening.
This blog hopes to remind us of the light that is the human desire for knowledge and of the importance of protecting and fuelling this flame.
You can access an explanation and high resolution version of Goya’s Tobias and Angel here.
